The 15th of November saw the WBA hold its final event of 2008 at Sundowner Tiona, just south of Forster.

The event was held in fun 2-3 foot waves at Bulls Paddock, at the southern end of Seven Mile beach.  First in the water were the hotly contested AA’s, four of whom were in the race for the overall title.  In the first heat Zoe Edwards took on Julia Heasmann, and grommets Tahlia Johnson and Taylor Jackson.  It would be the super grom Tahlia who ended up taking out the heat over her older rivals.  In the next heat Karleah Lang took on Monique Farmer, Ali Kriz and Chile’s Daniella Guitart. Monique landed a nice solid roll, to take out the heat with Karleah finishing in second place.

In the interval the DK expression session was held with many interesting variations of double knee on display.  Ex-world champ Kira Llewellyn was a stand out performer showing off a wide variety of snaps and floaters.

Next up was the AA Final, featuring Tahlia Johnson, Zoe Edwards, Monique Farmer and Karleah Lang.  The final result was so close that only 1 point separated the top three girls.  In the end it was Monique who
finished on top after a variety of spins and rolls pleased the judges.

Monique’s win meant that she was the overall champ for the AA’s in 2008, which was also so close that only 15 points separated her and 2nd place getter Zoe Edwards.

The absence of both Lilly Pollard and Kaitlin Murphy meant that Lilly took out the overall AAA ratings for the year, as Kaitlin was the only one who could knock Lilly out of position.
